Reading Terminal Market
by Rhianwen Lewis-Holtz
Reading Terminal Market is a great place to explore to notion of the divided self. It attracts people from literally all around the world- visitors attending conferences at the convention center, amish from lancaster, homeless.. from every race, age, education level, social class, etc. It is a diverse meeting place with a rich and dynamic history that stimulating in every human sense. Many different smells, textures, noises and tastes...It opened in 1892 as a farmers market and has evolved and expanded substantially. It is a place to explore on many levels and I intend to so. I will do an audio tour- my own thoughts, what I see, natural noise. I will make a brochure map of the market.I will interview people in the market and if I find willing people with good stories, I will make a documentar about it.
